Bod
History:
Bod was originally from Surat Thani province. She started working as a logging elephant at the young age of 10. Unfortunately, during one of her logging tasks, she suffered a severe accident that caused her to go blind. Unable to continue in the logging industry, her owner relocated her to a trekking camp, where she was trained to carry tourists.
For years, Bod worked tirelessly, adapting to her new role despite her blindness. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the tourism industry collapsed, and she was given a much-needed break from work, finally experiencing a more natural and peaceful life.
Tragically, Bod's owner passed away, leaving her future uncertain. His children, understanding the need for proper care, reached out to Bua Thong Elephant Sanctuary, which stepped in to provide her with a safe and loving environment where she could live out the rest of her days in peace and dignity.
Now, at 45 years old, Bod enjoys her days in the sanctuary, free from labor, surrounded by nature, and cared for by people who cherish her. Despite her past hardships, she remains gentle and resilient, a true testament to the enduring spirit of elephants.
