Bai Toly
History:
Bai Toey was originally from Tak Province before being sold to the southern region of Thailand. She was initially used for logging rubberwood and later transitioned into the tourism industry. Throughout her life, she has experienced various types of work, adapting to different environments and roles.
Bai Toey has given birth to two calves, demonstrating her resilience as both a working elephant and a mother. After having her calves, she stopped working in logging and was reassigned to a trekking role in Phang Nga and Krabi, where she carried tourists on jungle expeditions. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, tourism came to a halt, and she was sent back to logging in Trang and Satun.
Once the pandemic subsided, Bai Toey's owner brought her to Buathong Elephant Camp, where she has remained ever since. She is known for her strength and endurance, as well as her calm and intelligent nature. Despite her tough past, Bai Toey has adapted well to life at the camp, forming close bonds with other elephants and her caretakers. She is a cherished member of the herd, playing an important role in maintaining the social structure of the group.
