History:
Boonma was originally from Tak province She was sold to the southern region of Thailand at around 8 or 9 years old and forced into the logging industry For many years, she endured heavy labor dragging logs through difficult terrains In 2014, her owner passed away, and she was sold into the tourism industry in Hat Yai, Songkhla
One day while playing in the water, Boonma suffered a serious accident when a sharp piece of wood punctured the underside of her foot She was unable to walk and had to remain lying down Seeing her suffering, her owner used an excavator to transport her to the elephant hospital, where she spent over a year recovering
After her recovery, her owner decided that Boonma had suffered enough and entrusted her to Bua Thong Elephant Sanctuary so that she would never have to endure hard labor again Today, she enjoys a peaceful life in a caring and natural environment
