Bai Kluai

History:

Bai Kluai was originally from Tak Province. At the age of 7-8, she was sold to the southern region of Thailand to work in the tourism industry, carrying visitors on jungle treks. For years, she served as a trekking elephant, helping tourists explore the beautiful landscapes of the south.

However, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, tourism came to a halt, and Bai Kluai was sent to work in logging in Ranong. The physically demanding labor, combined with stress and inadequate care, took a toll on her health. She became weak, lost significant weight, and eventually stopped eating. Concerned for her well-being, her owner sought help from Buathong Elephant Camp, which stepped in to rescue her.

Since arriving at the camp, Bai Kluai has received proper care, medical attention, and a well-balanced diet to restore her health. She has regained her strength and is now thriving in a safe and nurturing environment. Despite her past struggles, she has a gentle and affectionate nature, forming strong bonds with her caretakers and other elephants.

Today, Bai Kluai is a testament to resilience and the power of compassionate care. She continues to live peacefully at Buathong Elephant Camp, where she enjoys a life free from the hardships she once endured.
